Family
Married to Melody McLain Hanks, film-maker, artist and dual graduate from the University of Southern Mississippi in Film and Art. I have two children, Logan (16) and Lola Mae (3). I reside in Philadelphia, Mississippi, and am looking to find a job that involves expanding my knowledge and experience in Public Relations and allows me to utilize skills obtained in my diverse background. Because of my current location, commuting and travel are welcome.
Interests
I love movies and I am very interested in the role film plays in human life. When I joined the military, I was assigned unfamiliar duties related to computers and technology, but these immediately became a great interest of mine and have remained so. I have been a comic book fan since I was a child and will soon be assisting a colleague with her graduate school project involving comics and their societal role. Because I have a constant thirst for knowledge, I love trivia and reading about almost any subject. I am an avid South Eastern Conference football fan and enjoy most other sports as well.
Volunteerism/Service
Assistant Command Volunteer Coordinator while in the U.S. Navy resulting in 3rd place Southeast Region Volunteerism award, volunteered for Teacher Supply Depot, Walk For Diabetes, Chimney Lakes Elementary Punt Pass & Kick, Boy Scouts of America, organized and coordinated a tribute concert for American Diabetes Association, received special recognition from the Rear Admiral of the U.S. Navy for volunteerism. Through my film society, I bring affordable, cult and classic movies to an audience that might not otherwise have the chance to view them and generate in interest in film for a rural, often overlooked community.
Professional Goals
Ultimately, I want to be in a position to further expand my knowledge and experience within the realm of public relations and become a better practitioner; all while helping and learning from my peers.
